Android One smartphones to undergo Lollipop makeover next month
Remember them? The three devices made by three manufacturers that broke cover in India not long ago — they are the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Android One Dream — all evolved around a $100 price margin.
According to information reaching us from industry sources, the three smartphones, being launched in September with Android 4.4 KitKat, will be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop by next month.
This is not surprising as the Android One project is much like a cheaper version of Google’s Nexus, placing Google in charge of bringing OS updates and maintaining the prices of these smartphones.
Meanwhile, an earlier report stated that Google is going to release another line of Android One devices around the same period in December. We don’t know if and how both occasions will interfere each other. However, our moves to ascertain further information from a Google representative in India met a brick wall as she denied having any knowledge of the issue.
