Bezel-free Xiaomi Mi 5 pictured in the wild
With Xiaomi’s persistent presence in the top-range smartphone category this year — with the introduction of the likes of Xiaomi Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi 4i — it’s difficult to admit that the Chinese tech company is yet to out a product from their flagship lineup this year.
The Xiaomi Mi 4 was launched in July 2014 and as you can see, a successor for the 5″ handset is now overdue since the month of July 2015 is already running out. With that being said, Xiaomi fans should worry no more as we just got pointers that their highly anticipated flagship is on its way.
Today, we caught alleged renders of the Xiaomi Mi 5 on camera, courtesy of our friends at MobileDad. From what we saw, it appears the upcoming flagship doesn’t have anything to do with side bezels – the two side bezels have been completely hidden by the amazing 2.5D glass technology.
The device is purportedly boxed up in a rectangular metal body with slightly curved edges. There’s no physical home button on the phone albeit below the screen, you get three capacitive Android function keys that comprises of a home, back and option button.
Spec-wise, the Mi 5 is campaigning with a 5-inch Quad HD display, a 4GB RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset. The pictures suggest there will be a USB type-C connector as well as a regular microUSB port under the phone but we can’t say for sure.
August 16 is when the Xiaomi Mi 5 will break cover; so stay tuned because we’ll bring you all the highlights on that day.
