Blackberry announces TCL as its official hardware contractor, to make subsequent BB devices
Back in the month of September, Blackberry announced that they could be going the way of Apple in the sense that they would be contracting the making of their devices to other independent contractors in the future. With their latest announcement, which saw them announce the close of their hardware division, it seemed true that they are going towards that path and today, they have made known their official partner in the development and designing of their phones from now on.
This move would not be a lot of surprise to many since they have both collaborated in the past to develop phones for the Canadian OEM and of recent, the same brand also outed the BB DTEK60 on behalf of the BlackBerry brand. For those that are still at a loss, this company is none other than TCL, the same phone maker that designs and manufactures the Alcatel devices.
While the BB DEK50 and DTEK60 have all been rebranded designs of already existing or yet to be made Alcatel devices, we expect that there is a change in strategy going forward if this deal is to stand the test of time.
