FaceBook launches Snapchat replica Slingshot on Android and iOS
“With Slingshot, we wanted to build something where everybody is a creator and nobody is just a spectator. When everyone participates, there’s less pressure, more creativity and even the little things in life can turn into awesome shared experiences. This is what Slingshot is all about.”
FaceBook was quoted as saying the while announcing it’s newest app, Slingshot. The new app was designed as an answer to Snapchat messenger after the owner refused to give it up for for FaceBook’s bag of money.
It was reported that FaceBook wanted to buy Snapchat last year for $3 billion, but was turned down by the owners who felt that FaceBook’s offer was peanuts compared to the worth of their app .
Now FaceBook is out with it’s own instant app that self-destroys messages upon reading by the recipient.
Slingshot does not require you to have a FaceBook to use it, neither will it keep your messages for anyone to read, FaceBook says.
Slingshot, Snapchat, and all other self-destroying messengers have been receiving heavy backlash recently by critics who say these kind of apps promote infidelity in relationships.
