The feature phone is dead – Gionee
General manager of Chinese phone manufacturer, Gionee, Arvind Vohra, does not believe that feature phones have any place in the future of mobile phones.
Vohra’s company strategically does business in three markets. They manufacture smartphones in China which they sell in Nigeria and India although some of these products are sold in their Chinese homeland.
“The feature phone is dead”, Arvind Vohra said, highlighting how his company’s smartphones will make you not need one ever, and how Gionee is never in a thousand years, planning to produce one.
The Gionee Elife E7 is a bigscreen phone running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, a beast in hand. He made mention of the Marathon M3, a smartphone with a whopping 5000mAh battery which could charge other mobile phones and last for days. Finally, Vohra talked of the ultra-thin Elfie S5.1 who’s design is a sight to behold.
Gionee is currently at third spot back home in China in terms of sales. In Nigeria, the brand ranks within the top four names in the smartphone industry. Last year, the company revealed plans of manufacturing devices in India pending government approval.
