Following poor sales, Amazon Fire Phone receives price slash
The mobile phone community once lofted Amazon’s then-upcoming smartphone with so much anticipation. However, when the phone finally broke cover, it looked clear to Amazon that blog comments on the Internet do not convert to sales.
Not that people who wrote these comments of “wanting an Amazon phone” didn’t like the Fire Phone, the major complaints were centered on the device’s price. A little while ago (several months actually), reports suggested that thousands of Amazon Fire Phone stock lay languishing in ware houses gathering dust due to lack of demand, BestMobs joined the call for the Kindle maker to reduce the price of the device to attract more customers.
And now, Amazon has finally learnt to adapt, only that it’s already late, it seems. The Fire Phone has taken a massive price drop all the way from $649 to $169 for an unlocked, contract free version. Though the price is still expected to go higher after some time, Amazon isn’t expected to raise the phone’s price up to the former price point after Black Friday sales are over this week.
