Gionee Elife E8 shows off metal design in leaked shots
Anytime soon, Gionee will be unveiling a successor for their 2014 phablet-sized Elife E7. Just before the real thing gets underway officially, we got some sneak peak into what the upcoming Gionee flagship will look like.
Known for using polycarbonate plastic in most of their previous devices(including the E7), Gionee opted for metal this time, giving the E8 a sleek discreet design inside a tinted aluminum unibody. The device looks to have a gold-colored version which could be making its way into select markets when released.
According a TEENA entry, the 6″ Gionee Elife E8 measures 164.0 × 82.3 × 9.6 mm and weigh in at 207 grams. The phone’s Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2460 pixels) works out to give the display a great 490 PPI score despite the large size of the screen.
We were hoping for something bigger but the Elife E8 has a 3,250mAh battery which could result in unimpressive battery life though our assumptions could be wrong somehow. Under the hood, you’ll find a 64-bit MediaTek MT6795 2.0GHz octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage powering the device.
The back of the smartphone holds a 23-megapixel shooter which reports say could take up to 100MP pictures via interpolation. There’s a LED flash as well as a secondary 8MP camera positioned on the front side. Gionee Elife E8 will be booting on Android 5.1 Lollipop right out of the box.
