Gionee Elife S5.5 set to start retailing as world’s thinnest phone at $374
When Gionee announced the Elife S5.5, one thing was spectacular about the phone — with just 5.5 mm thickness (this accounts for the odd “5.5” naming), it’s the world’s thinnest smartphone.
For $374, you can cut yourself a good deal as the Gionee Elife S5.5 doesn’t let the sleekness get into it’s way of having 2014 high-end specs.
The smartphone features a 5-inch touchscreen with 1080p resolution. The engines are powered by 2GB of RAM and a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 chipset while it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
Despite it’s status, the Gionee Elife S5.5 cuts itself a good 2300mAh battery. For photography, the handset is equipped with a 13MP primary camera and 5MP secondary camera.
Gionee says the phone will become available in China on Tuesday 18th March 2014 and will gradually reach 40 other countries in the world. They also promised an LTE version for the device, this will mean an entirely new chipset and a few spec modifications.
