Huawei Mate S has a 5.5″ 2.5D display with ‘color saturation of 105 percent’
In Berlin, it’s raining devices and announcements at the IFA today and so shall be it for the next several days that the iconic event will last. Lenovo has announced a trio of smartphones and two phablets while Sony, Motorola and others have taken turns in unveiling some important gadgets.
Chinese phone maker Huawei was next in line, announcing a 5.5″ 1080p Mate S smartphone whose display is claimed to have “a screen color saturation of 105 percent.” Whatever that means to you, the Huawei Mate S, for us, screams HTC One M7 at its back while the front side resembles the company’s flagship Huawei P8.
Interestingly, the new smartphone was integrated to use Force Touch technology, a feature that is reportedly going to be found in the upcoming iPhone 6s.
Under the hood, the new smartphone is powered by a Kirin 935 chipset alongside a dual core CPU clocked at 2.2GHz, 3GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage depending on the variant you buy. The handset unsurprisingly runs on Android 5.1 OS customized with Huawei’s EMUI3.1 skin. It also has a 13MP/8MP rear/front camera combo and features LTE, NFC, fingerprint sensor and a sealed 2,700mAh battery to keep the lights on.
The “Standard” Huawei Mate S (32GB storage) comes with a €649 price tag while the 64GB model (Premium) costs €699. Another version with 128GB of storage will be launched in the near future according to Huawei.
