‘iPhone is still the best phone on the planet’
Here is Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, a man who has been often called the Steve Jobs of China — a name he deemed inappropriate for himself — saying that the best phone in the world is not the Xiaomi Red Rice because it has the best price value, or the Samsung Galaxy S4 because it has all the cool features never seen before, or even the HTC One, because it has a premium look — but the Apple iPhone.
He was asked to compare Apple’s iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s models with his company’s current smartphones when he shocked journalists with this reply, “iPhone is still the best smartphone on the planet. For Xiaomi there’s a lot of space for learning and talent”.
Jun must truly be a sort of Steve Jobs, if that’s how he answers big testing questions thrown to him. His tactics saw his company selling 100,000 Red Rice smartphones in 4 minutes, while a previous sales bash saw another 100,000 units of Xiaomi Mi-3 smartphones ghosted in only 86 seconds.
With the acquisition of the skills of former Android chief, Hugo Barra, and with the quick thinking of CEO Lei Jun, Xiaomi is obviously a force to reckon come next year.
