Is the Chinese Landvo S6 (Samsung Galaxy S6 clone) a good buy at $130?
Yesterday, we published a review article on the Landvo S6, a Samsung Galaxy S6 clone that came to our notice lately. Now, apart from cloning Samsungs and stuff, there are many other smartphones launched under the Landvo brand in the past few months. Some of these devices are the Landvo L200S and L600S, they have remarkable features and are running successfully in the market. But our main interest for today is the company’s recently unboxed smartphone, the Landvo S6, which is considered to be a replica of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship.
Shenzhen Jin Huiteng Communication Equipment Co. Ltd., the manufacturing company of this brand, specializes in hi-tech research, smartphone equipment, selling and after-sales services. With the high technology research, development and dedicated supply chain, this company has managed to launch three different brands to different target markets in more than 200 countries, one of their popular brands being Landvo. The logo of Landvo is a combination of Chinese and English that stands for ‘Life and Our Value’.
If you are thinking of not spending a lot in buying a smartphone, yet you want to have the taste of the best, then the company’s best gizmo Landvo S6 could be your best bet. The product is in the market for only $130. Yes, you read it right! This beastly loaded smartphone is available for $130.
Now, let us take a look at what this smartly priced phone has to offer. Undoubtedly, Landvo has taken the inspiration from its master in terms of design, but it is a lot more different in terms of specifications.
Externals: Design and Display
The Landvo S6 has a 5-inch 16M colours touchscreen display with 720p resolution and a pixel density of 294ppi. There is a physical home button situated at the bottom of the device that has prompt finger response. It also has the backlit multitasking and back keys on the bottom sides. The 2MP front facing camera is located at the top right-hand corner of the display. The LED notification and the earpiece are located next to each other at the top and the small dot called the proximity sensor just below the earpiece.
The backside of the back cover is made of plastic. There is an 8MP camera along with a single tone LED flash located at the top. A new technology called the heart rate monitor is also installed at the back.
This smartphone is 143.5 x 70.6 x 6.86 mm in dimension, weighs 160 grams and has a high-quality metal alloy frame protecting the phone from all the sides. The power button is located on the right, which also has a metal finish and great tactile finger/thumb response. There are two nano SIM card slots on the right that can be used with the SIM card ejector. The volume keys are located on the left side; keeping the rest of the panel empty. The noise cancellation mic and IR remote are situated on the top and the 3.5mm audio jack, charging port and speaker grill are positioned at the bottom of the panel. Overall, the smartphone is sturdy and gives you that elegant feel and the best part is it can be operated single-highhandedly.
Internals: Hardware and Software
Landvo S6 has a 1.5 GHz quad core Cortex A7 processor, which is quite decent and gives smooth operation. This device is running on powerful MediaTek MT6582 chipset and PowerVR SGX544 graphics processing unit, which is extremely good for gaming and multimedia. The graphics integration allows you to play 3D games with much ease and without any glitch.
This phone comes with a 2550mAh Li-Po non-removable battery that lasts for a good one day with calls and playing games. It is great for an average user, but if you are a heavy phone user, then you should consider carrying a power bank along.
It is loaded with 2GB RAM and inbuilt 16GB memory without any expansion slots. This beast runs on 5.0 Lollipop version of Android with the TouchWhizz UI replicated from Samsung, which makes it an impressive piece to play with. The user interface has surprisingly clean motion controls.
This phone already comes with pre-installed Google apps like Play Store, YouTube, Play Movies and Gmail that give user-friendly experience when using for the first time.
Camera and Connectivity
With the kind of price tag this phone has, the picture quality is equivalent to that of a 16MP camera resolution. It captures a brilliant picture in daylight with all the details, dynamic colours and sharp shooting technology.
The images captured in night mode or low light mode also have decent picture quality. The camera is able to take some great macro shots with amazing details. The LED embedded flash does a good job in illuminating the scene. The front facing camera also gives a good picture quality and also does decent for taking selfies. The quality of video recording is pretty good and captures natural colour details with auto exposure technology.
The phone works on 2G and 3G GSM connectivity with a decent call quality. It also has a high-speed GPS connectivity along with 4.0v Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11.
The little brother Landvo S6 has a great design, a sturdy build but this is isn’t quite comparable to its Samsung counterpart, however, if you are not keen to spend a lot, this smartphone could give you all that you need. The sleek metal alloy panel with 5-inch display and great UI is what you will love about this phone.
The 8MP rear camera comes as a surprise as it gives really nice pictures in daylight and above average quality in the low light. The embedded flash plays a great role in capturing sharp scenic images. However, the battery life is slightly above average, it is still good for a low priced smartphone.
The graphics installed on this smartphone is the icing on the cake that gives it a smooth, user-friendly performance. It is an amazing phone for gamers and those who watch a lot of multimedia videos.
Even though it is considered to be an imitation of Samsung Galaxy S6, it still has some great features along with an add-on like a heart rate monitor on the rear side.
