Karbonn rallies support for Android One, says another device coming this quater
Karbonn Mobiles has drummed up a new wave of support for Google’s Android One initiative, saying partnership with the program is very long term though the Indian company refused to give out details on sales of it’s first $100 Android One device that was released back in September.
“Expect [a] new Android One smartphone in 2015 first quarter. We have had an excellent response on Android One devices. We believe that Android One will mature over time. Our partnership for Android One is going to be long term,” Executive Director of Karbonn Mobiles, Shashin Devsare, was quoted saying at a smartphone event organized in New Delhi during the weekend.
Google launched the Android One platform to bring smartphones to “next next billion” people and the program has gone on since it’s launch last year to oversee the launch of one phone each from Micromax and Karbonn, with two coming from another Indian phone maker, Spice.
