Meizu takes swipe at OnePlus before launch of the Pro 5
The guys that work over at Meizu obviously have a very rich sense of humor, and you’re just about to find out why.
OnePlus, the smartphone manufacturer, announced not long ago the release of its latest device, the one and only OnePlus 2, and dubbed the device “the flagship killer”, giving it rave reviews themselves even before it got to the hands of its customers. OnePlus did not stop there at generating some buzz around their device as they took a very bold step and launched a campaign that would in the end lead to their device’s promotion.
Launching the #TakeTheEdgeOff campaign, OnePlus told users all around the world to trade in their Samsung S6, S6 Edge +, Note 5 and Samsung S6 Edge smartphones for charitable purposes. Trading in would also ensure that these people get a new OnePlus 2 device to replace the Samsung mobile(s) they had traded in for charitable purposes to the Hope Phones organization.
Well, Meizu is also here, with its plan to launch its new flag bearer in the Meizu Pro 5 and they have taken the heat to OnePlus (no pun intended) with its own #TurnTheHeatOff campaign. This campaign asks users to send in their OnePlus 2 device for an awesome Meizu Pro 5. How ironic.
A nice sense of humor seems to be at play as to the choice of campaign name, given that the OnePlus 2 has been known to overheat due to its Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 problems.
Let’s hope this generates enough buzz for the Meizu Pro 5, and it also lives to surpass the OnePlus 2.
