Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 is the world’s slimmest smartphone, ever
You must have heard of the 4.85 mm-thin Oppo R5, or the Gionee Elife S5.1 with 5.15 mm thickness — which is recognized by Guinness as the Worlds Slimmest Smartphone — India’s Micromax just exposed the real truth behind these “slimmest” devices.
At today’s launch of the company’s Canvas Sliver 5 flagship, Micromax explained how the companies behind these phones gave out the official thickness of their smartphones on paper while neglecting the camera hump that will surely make these devices measure thicker when included.
The Micromax Canvas Sliver 5 was announced today with an aluminum body which measures 5.1 mm in thickness, flat line, making the device the world’s “slimmest phone, ever”, as described by Micromax.
The new flagship houses a 4.8-inch AMOLED display with HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Running on Android 5.0 Lollipop, the 4G-enabled smartphone is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 SoC alongside 2GB of RAM and non-expandable 16GB of storage.
In the camera department, the handset stores an 8MP main snapper and 5MP front-facer, packing a powerful single LED flash for lightening assistance when taking pictures in darker places. The Canvas Silver 5 comes with a sealed 2,000mAh battery.
Pricing and availability
The Micromax Canvas Silver 5 will hit the shelves in India starting from July. The product will have an SRP (suggested retail price) of INR 17,999 (about $280).
