Micromax shifts back as Samsung is crowned undisputed smartphone king in India
A year ago, Samsung was reportedly piped to the smartphone crown in India. Many thought it was the long-awaited (in competitors’ opinion) decline that has set in, however shortly, the Koreans displayed a new wave of mojo and has kept their head steady to stay ahead of all the other smartphone vendors in a country home to over 1 billion people ever since.
As it stands in the book of statistics presented by CounterPoint Research, Samsung is still leading not just the smartphone pack, but the mobile phone market in general. The company held 27.8 % of the Indian smartphone market share and had 18.2 % for mobile phones.
Though smartphone shipments weren’t as much as what Samsung had in comparison to the same period during 2014, the phone maker had a great boost in sales of other mobile phones and fared better than the second best player, Micromax, who lost few points in both fields.
