According to the IDC, a globally known analysis and research firm and argueably one of the best players in the game, mobile phone vendors shipped over a billion smartphones in 2013 and a total of 1.82 billion phones were shipped during the year.
Samsung beat other competitors to a pulp and held first position with 31.3% or 313.9 million samrtphones shippe. Apple followed at second postion with 15.3% (153.4 million units) shipped. Huawei, Lenovo, LG and ZTE took the third, fourth, fifth and sixth places accordingly.
2013 was a year many people bought multiple smartphones, with some people getting as many as three, four, five flagships for themeselves. It’s all money for phone manufacturers, we know, but the question remains: Will the smartphone craze go down anytime soon?
