Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (SM-G870) hits the brigde
Last week, while telling you about the rumored Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom, we made mention of Samsung producing an “Active” variant of their new Galaxy S5 flagship.
Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with last year’s flagship Galaxy S4 to keep tab of water and dust resistance offered by some competitors’ designs like the Xperia Z1. But this year, the classic Samsung Galaxy S5 itself has an IP67-certified water and dust resistance so many people thought the idea of having a Galaxy S5 Active will be needless.
According to @evleaks, Samsung SM-G870 is this year’s Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, and apart from water and dust-proof, is expected to add MIL-STD-810G certification, which according to GSMArena, means salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistance.
The S5 Active is also expected to carry three physical buttons in place of the two capacitive keys and home button on other mainstream Samsung Galaxy phones.
