Sony Xperia A4 goes official in Japan
After last year’s model went official as the Xperia A2, Sony skipped a number to introduce this year’s generation of the Xperia A in line with the naming pattern of other Xperia smartphones (Xperia Z4, Xperia E4, etc.).
The Sony Xperia A4 was announced in Japan with a design sporting more rounded corners than its predecessors. The smartphone is packed in a sleek polycarbonate body which measures 128 x 66 x 9.1mm and weighs in at 129 grams.
A 4.6-inch 720p display, 20.7MP rear-positioned camera and a 2.2MP front-facing selfie taker are the main talking points of the Xperia A4, not forgetting the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset clocked to run at 2.5GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage.
The Xperia A4 houses a 2,600mAh battery and offers support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS with GLONASS and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.
Press photos suggest the device will be available in black, white, blue, and pink, but Sony hasn’t announced the price point and release schedule for this sweet taste though we don’t expect it to go on retail outside of Japan.
