Upcoming Meizu MX5 shines in leaked photos
Meizu is about to refresh their flagship MX lineup. The MX4 came out late in last year’s September but with a successor rumored to be coming soon, it looks like the Chinese phone maker is set to alter the 1-year releasing space code of tech products.
Nonetheless, thanks to footprints left by the unreleased MX5 at GFXBench, we learnt that the upcoming Meizu flagship will have a 5.5-inch 1080p display and will unsurprisingly run on Android Lollipop OS. Today, we got a new set of leaked pictures of the device that were sent in by a legitimate source.
From the pictures, we you can see the MX5 has some similarity with a specific *ahem* Cupertino *ahem* product which is popular with clone makers and even big competitors — that’s not even what we came here to discuss.
The back cover shielding the MX5 seems to be made of plastic and will likely be removable but the presence of what looks like antenna lines crossing the rear side of the smartphone casts a big doubt over the material of the lid. Metal covers compromise radio signals in devices thus if the external antenna is real, it could only be aluminum or some other metal alloy that makes up the back cover.
Tuesday 30th June is scheduled as the Meizu MX5 release date. Rumors suggest the device will be priced under $300.
