Welcome the Orange Klif, first Firefox OS smartphone in Africa
In a bid to capture some stake in the fast-growing smartphone market in Africa, Mozilla in partnership with network provider Orange, has launched the first Firefox-powered smartphone in the region.
The Orange Klif, manufactured by French OEM Alcatel, was launched in Senegal and Madagascar — in fulfillment of Mozilla’s vow to make Africa a major focus at the Mobile World Congress back in February.
The Firefox web browser developer aims at bringing mobile phones “within reach of millions more people” by the introduction of the superbly low-priced Klif handset.
Spec-wise, the Alcatel Orange Klif sports a 3.5″ touchscreen display, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, WCDMA and a user-removable 1300mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Firefox 2.0 operating system.
