Xiaomi Mi Band 2 has a touchscreen, expected to cost higher
It’s no longer news that Xiaomi’s Mi Band is one of the best-selling smart wearables of our time. In fact, according to International Data Corporation, IDC, the tiny wristband was only second to Fitbit in terms of shipped units during 2015 Q1.
Released back in July 2014, it’s been nearly a year since the $12 Mi Band was released alongside the Xiaomi Mi 4 smartphone. Sources now tell us that the Chinese company is already working a sequel to first Band.
A purported leaked image of the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 uploaded on Weibo by LeakGK yesterday showed off a device carrying a touchscreen — something that is void on the first generation Band.
No details were passed alongside the renders, however, we might be wrong, but we do expect the second Mi Band to cost higher than its $12 predecessor following its status as a touchscreen device.
The first Mi Band has reportedly sold over 6 million copies as of June 6 according to a high-ranking Xiaomi official. What the future holds for the sequel is what we cannot say for now.
