2016 Nexus smartphones to be available on Verizon, rebranding very likely
We have heard some news, gotten some leaks and still no conclusive pictures but we know that sometimes later this year, in the month of October, we would be getting two new Nexus smartphones to add to the already exiting line-ups. Already codenamed the Marlin M1 (with 5.5 inches of screen) and the Sailfish S1 (with smaller 5-inch screen), we know that these cuties would be rocking the latest android version 7.0 out of the box but so far, we didn’t get any leak on carrier availability until now.
Popular tipster who goes by the name of @evleaks on twitter has suggested that the Nexus devices would be carried in the US by Verizon but there is a twist to it. the Big Red might opt to not use any of the device’s names when listing them for commercial sales and this hints at a rebranding operation, something of the sort having been seen earlier on the Moto Droid device.
Also, he has said that the devices from Verizon could come without the stock android platform which means that Verizon could be looking to install their own bloatware on the devices before sales commence.
Like the last year’s model, the two new and upcoming Nexus devices would have fingerprint scanners on their back and following the trend of the 6P and 5X, the bigger Marlin would be made out of metal while the smaller Sailfish would have to make do with a plastic build.
