Alcatel’s Windows 10-powered midrange smartphone coming before year end
In 2004, Alcatel-Lucent of France and TCL Communication partnered to form a mobile phone company named Alcatel; an outfit who is in charge of producing Alcatel mobile phones and OneTouch smartphones. A year later, Alcatel sold their 45 percent stake in the phone company to TCL, leaving the Chinese tech giant 100 % ownership of the Alcatel mobile phone subsidiary.
Till date, Alcatel smartphones are still popular around the world even though the brand’s coverage is not like what they had in the mid 2000s when Alcatel feature phones were the talk of the town.
Before the end of the year, the French-based Chinese-owned phone maker will reportedly out a smartphone running on Microsoft’s newly released Windows 10 OS. The firm’s senior vice president for North America, Steve Cistulli, said the handset will hit the shelves by the end of 2015.
The executive didn’t release further details on the unnamed handset but a small research revealed to us — according to a Tweet by @evleaks — that the upcoming Alcatel Windows 10 handset will sport a 5.5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 8MP main camera, 2MP front camera and a 2,500mAh battery.
The popular leakstar (@evleaks) disclosed the device will be named Alcatel Fierce XL confirming the product will be on the shelves in December.
