Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s duo set new record of 13 million sales in opening weekend
Finally the numbers are in. Apple has once again proved its salt as the most valuable company in the world by breaking and subsequently setting yet another opening day iPhone sales record.
Last year, the combined effort of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 saw Apple sell 10 million smartphones in the phones’ first weekend but just last weekend, the new generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus models set a new record by retailing 13 million copies. Before you place an iota of doubt over the news, kindly note that the information came from the horse’s (Apple’s) mouth so there’s no space for doubt.
“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” Apple CEO Tim Cook. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”
On Friday, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus were released in 12 countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States.
On the 9th of next month, the iOS 9-powered Apple flagship smartphones will go on sale in 40 new markets: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Greenland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Maldives, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Taiwan. The next day (October 10th), the handsets will go on retail in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
India, Malaysia and Turkey will receive the iPhone 6s siblings on October 16 and by December, the handsets will be available in a total of 130 countries.
