Apple iPhone 6s goes official with ‘3D’ Force Touch tech
Finally, it’s here: The much anticipated Apple iPhone 6s has finally arrived. At Apple’s Keynote event in San Francisco, California today, the tech giant unwrapped the latest generation of its iconic smartphone.
The Apple iPhone 6s retains the screen size of its predecessor, as well as body dimensions, but as expected, comes with an improved camera, larger RAM and 3D Force Touch — a technology that allows you to send separate commands to the phone depending on the amount of force excerted when pressing the screen.
A brand new camera unit has been stashed on the iPhone 6s. For years, Apple have relied on 8MP iSight sensors for their flagships but the iPhone 6s comes with a 12-megapixel one. The FaceIme (Apple’s name for front camera) camera has been bumped to 5 megapixels as well. The main camera can record videso 4K resolution.
The Apple iPhone 6s runs on iOS 9, complete with Apple Music replacing the music app while Beats 1 radio is there for your 24-hour listening pleasure of live performance and on-demand music.
Buying an unlocked iPhone 6 unit with 16GB storage will cost $649, the 64GB version goes for $749, and lastly, the 128GB model carries a $849 price tag. No changes were made when compared to the prices of last year’s iPhone 6. Buying the 6s on contract (AT&T, Sprint, Verizon) costs $199, $299 and $399 — for 16GB, 64GB and 128GB respectively.
The iPhone 6s comes with a 1,715mAh battery against the 1,810mAh cell found on its predecessor. Apple hasn’t said anything about the battery life of the new phone.
The phone will hit the shelves in the United States on 25th September 2015. Other markets are expected to follow up in due time.
