Pandora Radio: Apple Music didn’t make a single impact
Nearly a month after Apple Music and Beats 1 online radio debuted, the Internet is yet to come in terms with the amount of hype and confusion that was aroused by the two Apple services.
With the thickness of dust raised by Apple Music debut, one would have thought that competition would be sent packing almost immediately. One company in the online radio and music streaming scene that hasn’t felt the impact of Apple Music and Beats 1 launch is Pandora.
Hear their CEO, Brian McAndrews,“In terms of the Apple Music, in Q2, of course, Apple Music launched at the end of June, so there was no impact.” McAndrews who was speaking at his company’s financial disclosure made it clear that Apple is been swayed by initial fever.
“Going forward, we feel really good about our trajectory and competitive position… there could be some listeners who experiment with the service and there could be some short-term impact, but we don’t — we aren’t seeing any meaningful listener impact at this time and we don’t expect any long-term meaningful impact either,” he added.
