Apple Watch has captured 75 percent of smartwatch market: Strategy Analytics
While I don’t know how these guys managed to get their numbers, it’s quite interesting to inform you that Strategy Analytics, one of the trusted research guys in tech we’ve known through the years, thinks the Apple Watch is selling as fast as Coke and Pepsi colas.
Believe it or not, the research firm says that Apple sold 4 million Watches during the second quarter of 2015, holding down 75 percent of the smartwatch market share in the process.
Samsung, who used to control majority (over 73 %) of the young market as of last year, was purportedly beaten black and blue as the South Koreans faced declining smartwatch sales despite the huge growth in the mainstream wearable segment in recent times.
Had Apple disclosed the amount of Apple Watches it shipped during the said period inside their just-released quarterly earnings call, we would have ascertained what the actual numbers looked like. Nonetheless, Cupertino didn’t fail to point out it had amassed “record” revenue from the segment where the wearable belonged to during the quarter.
