‘BlackBerry Passport demand took us by surprise’
Last time we heard how the device was faring in sales, we were told it’s initial stock of 200,000 units were sold out almost immediately, and now the funny, sarcastic and witty BlackBerry CEO of John Chen, who popularly called-out iPhone users as “wall huggers”, has told us that his company’s latest flagship smartphone’s sales are doing far better than expected.
Chen declined to give out any specific figures on how the BlackBerry Passport device has been faring in the market but he was confident the smartphone was selling higher than his company anticipated and this has caused some minor supply issues along the line.
“I’m glad to have inventory issues. It shows that people want the phone. We took a very conservative approach and didn’t order too many.” The CEO praised the square smartphone.
