Blackberry to take over Priv’s software updates, roll out to all unlocked users now
It came as quite a shock to a lot of the BB Priv users that got their own devices unlocked from AT&T when they found out that they would not be getting any official updates on their device unless they used it with a SIM from the mobile carrier.
This was one of the most painful things that could happen to anyone that has spent that amount of money to get a device that would not be kept to date when it comes to the software parts and while this was no issue at all for those who were naturally AT&T customers, those that were registered to other networks found it hard to stomach.
To pour some water in the fire that was already brewing among customers, Blackberry took to the media streets in May to announce that they are working on a sort of solution to this problem that was facing lot of users and now, they have come up with something of a fix for this issue.
According to latest reports, Blackberry themselves have opted to start handling all of the updates that would roll out to their Priv devices and taking the responsibility off of AT&T’s hands means that all users would ne get software bumps, regardless of what SIM they have in their units.
