Could the Huawei-made Nexus 6P just be another “Bendgate”?
A video on the Youtube account “JerryRigEverything” went viral last week, showing that the Nexus 6P is not of premium build as it yielded ever so easily to the bend test and scratch test that it was subjected to. After this video emerged and went to a lot of viewers, fans and advocates of the Huawei built Nexus 6P started to point fingers at Jerry, saying that the destruction of the Gorilla Glass protection before the bending test made the device give way easily. Others said that it might be due to the fact that Jerry had received a device of lesser build quality as another video emerged showing the 6P able to withstand 90 pounds of load.
In a bid to clarify himself and drive his point home, Jerry has made a new video official via his JerryRigEverything account where he features a newly unboxed version of the smartphone and before starting the test, points to three structural flaws that made the device weak to such bending strengths. He then went on to bend the device and once again, same results were obtained.
It is not impossible, but the odds are highly stacked against the occurrence that Jerry received two bad Nexus 6P devices in a row. This now begs the question of whether or not the device is really that faulty or Jerry just makes it look easy.
