Facebook reportedly making a smartphone with Samsung
After trying and eventually failing with HTC, Facebook are allegedly discussing with market leaders Samsung to see the possibility of forming a smartphone from the alliance.
Reports say that CEO and co-founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, met with his counterpart at Samsung Electronics, vice chairman Lee Jay-yong at Samsung’s headquarters in Seoul where the two were joined by Facebook chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg.
If the talks materialize, we could see a Samsung smartphone with a lot of Facebook software inside. The UI will probably be designed to match Facebook’s theme and Facebook will beat at the heart of the device.
Last year, HTC and Facebook launched a device called the HTC First on AT&T, the device went on to flop so bad nobody talked about it afterwards. We’ll see how the partnership with Samsung will pan out.
