Here’s a fix for Facebook battery drain on the Apple iPhone
The users of the Apple iPhone devices have, over the past few weeks, subscribed to the constant complaint of the Facebook app doing more than necessary to drain their battery powers faster than expected. Funnily though, Facebook has never released any statement since the year when this accusation has been made up until recently when the Facebook team really agreed to be at fault with their new app draining the iPhone users’ batteries. This recent change of behavior on the side of Facebook is believed to be as a result of the new iOS 9’s capability to estimate the battery usage of various apps, picking Facebook as the highest offender everywhere.
Ari Grant, Facebook’s Engineering Manager has said “We found a few key issues and have identified additional improvements, some of which are in the version of the app that was released today [Oct. 23]”
Of the problems that cause the battery drainage from the app, he has called one the CPU Spin which was explained as A CPU spin is like a child in a car asking,
- “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?” with the question not resulting in any progress to reaching the destination. This repeated processing causes our app to use more battery than intended. The version released today has some improvements that should start making this better.”
The application has now been fixed according to the Facebook team. We hope it does what it was upgraded to do.
