HTC: We will not consider an acquisition by Asus
HTC has “strongly” ruled out any possibility of an acquisition by fellow Taiwanese nationals, Asus. The phone maker has denied receiving any contact information or bid by Asus, a less popular name in the mobile industry and has stated that any deal will fall through because the management of the company will definitely respond with a big no.
“We strongly deny the news,” HTC stated on their website. “We didn’t contact Asusteck and will not consider the acquisition. As an international brand, HTC will continue to design world-class innovative smart devices through its pursuit of brilliance brand promise.”
Last week, HTC shares fell on a 10-year low, sparking rumors on a possible buyout by Asus as an executive from the latter failed to to rule out a possibility of his company filing a proposal for buying HTC Corp.
