HTC wants to buy Nokia’s Chennai, India, manufacturing plant
Nokia’s manufacturing plant in Chennai, India, has caused a lot of stir since the agreement to buy the Finnish phone manufacturing company by Microsoft.
Microsoft and Nokia are to close the deal in two days time and it’s not clear if the Chennai factory is still part of the $7.2 billion acquisition since the Indian has slammed the plant with a tax evasion accusation where it claims Nokia is owing the government over $500 million in taxes for the plant.
However, HTC has come to the rescue. If Nokia does not include the Chennai plant in the Nokia Devices and Nokia Services that’s being bought by Microsoft, they will come forward to purchase the facility with all it’s trouble, if Nokia agrees in selling.
Right now, both Nokia and HTC has not commented on the issue. We’ll brief you once there’s any are any updates the matter.
