iQ and MaxTel debut November as Nigeria starts making phones
Plans have been put in place to unveil the first-ever Nigerian mobile phones before the end of 2013. A group which goes by the name PAPDAN(Phone and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria) says it will launch two mobile phone brands named iQ and MaxTel by November.
Nigeria has had a booming electronics and mobile phones market but have been relying on China for the majority of their user-products.
The PAPDAN President told attendees at the at the inaugural edition of Technopreneurship Breakfast Meeting in Lagos, that PAPDAN has identified a growing appetite for cutting-edge technologies among Nigerian telecoms consumers also says that two Nigerian brands will cater to three market segments in the feature, medium and smart phone segments to offer choice to consumers.
The Nigerian telecoms industry is a booming one, safe to say, as Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) had put 120,362,218 as the number of active SIM cards in the indutry as at July 2013.
