Leak confirms that Samsung would use the”Galaxy S8+” naming
Evan Blass has to be our favourite tipster, and he is at it again. Today, he tweeted an image alongside text that confirms once and for all what the name of the next flagship in Samsung’s Galaxy S family would be. In his tweet, it was shown that the next flagship would follow the conventional numbering system and picks up from last year’s release with a Galaxy S8 naming system. We are also sure to expect a bigger variant which has been dubbed the Galaxy S8+ already.
Looking at the above, it can be seen that Samsung is trying to deviate from the “Plus” naming style that we already have on the iPhones, and use a sign for theirs instead. We are not shocked at all that this one has not been named the Galaxy S8 Edge+ (taking after the curved edge variant of the Galaxy S6) since we do not expect any flat screen offering from this year’s release.
Based on all the leaks so far, and the experiment that Samsung managed to pull off on the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, we doubt if we would ever have a flat screen smartphone flagship from this OEM again. We never can tell if there would be a special release sometimes though, much like Apple did with the iPhone SE.
