Lenovo wants to buy BlackBerry?
Three years ago, during the BlackBerry boom in the mobile industry, the title of this article will probably look like an April 1 post (check out our April fool article this year), but now is 2014 and following years of bleeding red ink, BlackBerry’s poor state has left them in a position where investors who wanted to buy up the Canadian phone maker were discouraged by what they saw and pulled out at the final stages.
BlackBerry seems to be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and CEO John Chen is confident that their odd BB Passport can get them nearer to the place where it’s greener. This and many other improvements are what seems to have enticed Lenovo and the Chinese phone maker is said to be heading west this week to put a bargain on BB.
No specific amount has been announced for the transaction but it’s important to note that Lenovo is currently involved in a buyout of Motorola from Google Inc. and the world’s leading PC manufacturer (in quantity) has announced plans to split it’s phone business into two brands.
