Lenovo may stop making smartphones soon
Lenovo was recently quoted as saying that it will focus more on its Motorola brand for the production of smartphones:
“There will be a more-simple, streamlined product portfolio, with fewer, more clearly-differentiated models. A faster, leaner business model will better leverage Lenovo’s global sales force and accelerate the efficiency actions already underway in its global supply chain. MBG will continue to drive the overall mobile business, but will now rely on Motorola to design, develop and manufacture smartphone products.”
The Chinese company has now announced a shocker, saying it will merge its phone business into Motorola and make Lenovo phones to disappear.
In China, Lenovo Mobile Group President Chen Xudong reportedly said that Lenovo’s lineup of phones will soon become one with Motorola. “The new organizational structure will be immediately released,” Xudong said.
It’s not clear when the company will carry out the plan but from how the lexecutive explained, it looks to be done sooner than later.
