LG V10 is official with a secondary monochrome display
And yes, it’s finally official and the speculations were all true all the way. The LG V10 was announced this morning and the high end phablet smartphone is sporting a 5.7″ Quad HD touchscreen. Above the main screen lies another display which LG explains the phone will utilize for displaying notifications and important messages without lightening up the primary screen. The 2.1″ 1040 x 160 pixels power saving secondary screen has two colors and stacks right beside the front-facing camera unit on the phone.
Speaking of front camera, the LG V10 is equipped by a duo of 5MP sensors at the front for taking wideangle selfies. The phone’s main camera features a 16MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture and laser autofocus like the one found on LG’s flagship G4 smartphone. The rear camera is also armed with a dual tone LED flash and sits above the device’s volume control keys.
The plastic-covered LG V10 measures 159.6 x 79.3 x 8.6 mm and touches down at 192 grams. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset alongside an ample 4GB of RAM and 64GB ROM. There’s space for even more storage on the phone as the microSD card slot offers expansion for up to 128GB of additional storage. The smartphone runs on Google’s Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software with heavy customizations by LG.
LG V10 comes with an Infrared port, NFC, Category 6 LTE (offering up to 300 megabytes per second downloads), dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 antenna, a microUSB 2.0 port as well as A-GPS, GLONASS for positioning. The device features a user removable 3000mAh battery with fast charging courtesy of Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 feature that comes with most Snapdragon 808 processors.
Price and availability
The LG V10 will hit the shelves in the United States and China as well as other “key” markets across Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. LG hasn’t made mention of the phone’s price scheme but we believe the pricing in each market will be announced as the product gradually rolls out.
