Micromax names new COO to handle surging phone business
Last week, India was announced as the fastest growing smartphone market, only behind Japan. The region has Samsung, a Korean company as the leading brand there but right behind is home-based Micromax who was rumored sometime ago to have overtaken Samsung.
Micromax has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer to help manage it’s phone business amidst a time of sudden boom for the mobile industry. Amarinder S Dhaliwal was the new man. He co-founded a website called Donebynone.com and is now responsible for Micromax’s new Internet-based project called Yu.
“He will be leading marketing initiatives for building the brand with a community of highly engaged users, driving revenue from product and services and setting-up world class internet operations,” Micromax CEO Rahul Sharma commented.
