Micromax, Spice and Karbonn’s Android One devices are getting Android 5.1.1
While Android One isn’t delivering smartphones to the “next billion people” as fast enough as Google would have preferred, updates are something that come rapidly to the devices despite the not-so-great sales.
If you have a Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, or Spice Android One Dream handset, kindly head over to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates and get your handset seeded to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, simple. The update, numbered LMY47V weighs only 11.8MB — if you’ve already gotten your device Lollipop-ed. The size should be way more if your device is still lingering on the pre-loaded Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
Android One smartphones come with 4.5″ FWVGA screens, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of expandable storage, 5MP rear and 2MP front-facing cameras, 1700mAh batteries and 3G-enabled dual SIM slot with Bluetooth, Wireless LAN and A-GPS connectivity all in tow. The handsets are all priced around $100 and are powered by MediaTek’s quad-core MT6582 SoC.
