Motorola assures G4 series users of Android 8.0 Oreo OS update
Motorola has responded to heavy jibes from its customers after the tech company silently and craftily exempted the Moto G4 series from the list of smartphones getting the latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS.
Recall that the G4 series which is just about 18 months old was promised the Android 7 Nougat along with the Android 8.0 Oreo update upon launch but in the past couple of days, the tech company conveniently sidelined the series from its list of smartphones getting the latest Android OS.
However, in reaction to the panic amongst it’s G4 series users especially as some promotional materials of the G4 series seems to have been altered to exempt the Oreo update mention, the tech company has revealed that it will indeed push the Android 8.0 update to the device series.
Motorola’s official statement on the matter reads:
“It’s been brought to our attention that there were some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for Moto G4 Plus. This was an oversight on our part and we apologize for this miscommunication.”
The company added: “It’s our general practice for the Moto G family to get one major OS upgrade per device, but it’s important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading Moto G4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit it into our upgrade schedule. Watch our software upgrade page for more information.”
