Next batch of Google Android One smartphones ready but here’s the twist
More than a year after the formal launch, Google is all set to bring back Android One into the Indian market. Then programme which aims at delivering Android smartphones at an affordable rates in emerging markets has seen a new light as Google has reportedly continued partnership with the Indian smartphone vendor Lava International to launch new smartphones into the Indian market. However, exact specifications of the new Android One models are yet to surface but Google is loosening it’s grip on rules for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) which means there’ll be enough variety to go through.
The new smartphones under the Android One project in line with the features features the first phase of the project an the just release Lava Pixel V1 at expected to house a variety of hardware under the hood a Google has given more freedom to the smartphone vendors to choose suitable component and features, the move is aimed at inviting more vendors into the market also selling product in order to reach the goal of the project. Although some of the initial vendors such as Micromax and Spice are no longer involved in the development of of program as gathered from an employee of Micromax who confirmed the speculation.
It is to be recalled that in the first phase of the programme, Google limited vendors of the Android One to purchasing components from specific suppliers in order to build similar smartphone from different vendors but with the loosened limitation, vendors are now allowed to choose from a greater variety to suit the market a meet up with demands from the public.
