No HTC One M9 mini/HTC One mini 3 this year, focus is on phablets
With the recent introduction of the HTC J Butterfly in Japan last week, one can’t help but wonder why the Taiwanese tech major has got so many top-range devices released this year, raising several question question marks over sales numbers and profits.
So, to clear your doubts, HTC has come out to announce that the presence of ‘them big phones will affect a few other models. Usually, a mini model is released after a HTC One smartphone goes official each year since 2013 but this year, there will no HTC One M9 mini or HTC One mini 3, the company explained.
“Overall the industry is moving towards new phones over 5 inches in size and our product roadmap is close to that of the industry,” president of HTC North Asia, Jack Tong, told Taiwanese media during the weekend.
So, with the HTC One M9, M9 Plus, E9, E9 Plus, M8s and some other high-end HTC Desire smartphones already in the pipeline this year, your guess is same as mine; no upgrades for the HTC One mini 2 in 2015. It’s even very likely the trend will continue next year and beyond.
