Nokia Asha 502 and Asha 503 hit the shelves
Nokia quietly dropped two bombs which we are looking forward to see setting the feature-phone market on fire this Christmas.
The Nokia Asha 502 comes in dual-SIM format and packs a 3.0 inches, 240 x 320 pixels touchscreen display. You get a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and no room for a front-facing camera though.
The phone runs on Nokia Asha software platform 1.1 aka Nokia Series 40 OS upgraded for touchscreen phones. With a 1010mAh battery, you’ll have no problems using the Asha 502 to chat on Whatsapp or Facebook with either 2G or Wi-Fi.
Nokia Asha 503 packs everything on the 502 except it has a slightly bigger battery, a 1200mAh removable battery which Nokia says will last 480 hours on standby.
Unlike it’s junior, Asha 502, the Nokia Asha 503 supports 3G connectivity on 900mHz and 2100mHz frequencies. It also packs support for Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, and above all, Corning Gorilla Glass protection for it’s 240 x 320 3.0-inch display.
Both phones have 4GB memory cards bundled in their respective boxes though you can still stash a 32GB microSD in either of them with no problems.
As of the time of writing this Nokia was still economic with the prices of these amazing feature phones. Availability for both phones will surely face emerging markets: India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana etc.
So, are you getting the Asha 503 (or 502) for your loved one or yourself this Christmas?
