Not even tweaks could help Samsung sell their Galaxy S6 in Japan
When the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 edge were released in Japan last month, many were puzzled to find out that Samsung actually removed the “Samsung” logo on the phones, maybe to save them from the embarrassing unpopularity of the Samsung brand in the country.
While all these went on, Samsung couldn’t save itself from the sluggish sales which have engulfed the company’s flagships in the Asian country. As at last week’s countdown of best-selling smartphones (April 27 to May 3), the Samsung Galaxy S6 found itself at 30th position.
The Galaxy S6 edge was a bit better at 26th though it’s still a long way to go into the top ten which is dominated by the Sony Xperias and Apple iPhones.
Samsung is enjoying massive sales in other regions as carriers have reportedly ordered record units of the Galaxy S6 duo. It’s somehow awkward that the phone maker is missing out in such an important market as Japan.
