See Country of Billionaires Where One Sausage Roll Costs $50,750,000,000,000,000
This is what happens when a country decides to print their own money. You have probably heard of Zimbabwe, the country of millionaires.
Zimbabwean dollar has officially been suspended on 12 April 2009, and it is going to be no longer valid by the end of 2015. Euro, United States dollar, South African rand are used now by Zimbabwe people, and the Zimbabwe government has adopted the United States dollar for its use.
In 2008, the price was changing twice a day at least, so the people would pay one price for bread or taxi in the morning when going to work and another, higher, when coming back from work.
Even though the Zimbabwean dollar has been suspended the money is still present and used, despite its very low value, and the central bank is trying to fix this. People are allowed to exchange their Zimbabwean dollar by the end of September this year (2015); they can walk inside any bank and exchange the money. The biggest problem is that one US dollar amounts to Z$35,000,000,000,000,000?!
The ray of light in all this is that the Zimbabwe dollar bills right now are worth more online then in a bank. The collectors and even common people find them attractive enough that they are willing to pay 15 times more then what they are worth.
As you can see having a lot of zeros on your bank account is not always as great as we assume it is.
