Rumour: Upcoming Nexus smartphones to have animated home buttons
The 2016 Nexus smartphones are due for launch in the month of September and while we already have a small list of leaks, only a few actually got us very happy. For a while, we learnt that the units would be coming with the QUALCOMM snapdragon 820 chipset when it should be using the latest 821 SoC instead and again, that the Nexus units would be making use of the fingerprint sensors found on 2015 Nexus too. This wasn’t interesting till we learnt that the smartphone would have its own list of new features, run the newest Android Nougat and now, we have heard that it could run with an animated home button.
A long press on your home button should do the trick of getting the animation active and disabling Google Now would have the opposite effect, leading to a disappearance of those four dots. The upcoming Nexus handsets are expected to run this feature straight from unpacking and currently, we have no news whether or not the feature would be extended to other Nexus models or would remain a Nougat exclusive.
With the Google Now on Tap, using the Google Assistant has become even better and when this new feature is launched, it would rival all other virtual assistants out there with the fluidity of user experience.
