Samsung Galaxy Active Neo launched with rugged body
The Samsung Galaxy Active Neo was launched in the Japanese market during the weekend. According to Phonearena, “the Active Neo can be seen as an upgraded Galaxy Xcover 3, or a seriously downgraded Galaxy S6 Active” — let’s find out if the assumptions were correct.
The Samsung Galaxy Active Neo comes with a 4.5″ WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) touchscreen and is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset alongside an Adreno 306 graphics processor and 2GB of RAM.
The smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera and LED flash. For taking selfies, a 2-megapixel secondary camera lies at the front side. The phone also comes with LTE, NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Samsung hasn’t confirmed whether the device will be officially upgraded to the newest Android 6 Marshmallow in the near future but the device boots out of the box running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
Coming to the juiciest part, the Galaxy Active Neo features a rugged body which is ideal for working in tough environments. The smartphone has IP68 certification in dust and water resistance and as well covers salt and sea water, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistance with its MIL-STD-810G certificate.
The handset will be available starting from November. Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has priced the device at JPY 20,000 — or $166 using the current exchange rates. International availability of the handset hasn’t been revealed by Samsung.
