Samsung stays strong on Galaxy S6 record sales
Samsung Electronics has assured fans and investors that the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will help reverse the company’s dwindling fortunes. Vice President and head of Samsung Mobile unit J.K. Shin insisted that the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagships will outsell older generations of the Galaxy S family. He made the call while speaking at a media event organized by the company last week.
Speaking on why his company chose to use their in-house Exynos chipsets on the flagship instead of Qualcomm processors they’ve been using in recent years, CEO J.K. Shin said his company might return to Qualcomm, adding that the resolve was to make their products “competitive” — even though it is understood that Samsung made the move to maximize profits.
“We have to use the best engines to make our products competitive, which is why we opted to use our own chips,” CEO Shin said. “But we may very well end up using products from Qualcomm again in the next Galaxy phone.”
